visual dependence. a duplex design.

When posed to design a duplex and create a story of the two people who would inhabit it, I thought about adults with disabilities who are seeking independence but often times must live with a caretaker. The visual connections within the design would allow for the two inhabitants to watch one another but still have separate living and working quarters. A “knot” of circulation would force the two residents to pass by each other in specific moments before going separate ways. This live-work project is a duplex for two artists and sisters and a small public gallery space for the exhibition of their combined work.
